I had a '93 940T from 80k to 140k, and was generally very pleased with it. I would say reliability was comparable to my 9000 - ie good to very good. The main reason I sold it was boredom. Again, a good Indy helped a lot. Yeah, it sucked in the snow, but it was RWD. I agree with Noel in that it seemed to be even worse in the snow that you would think it should be. I guess that's how the Swedes are so good at bounching cars off snowbanks. For a winter beater, I'd say I'd stick with a non turbo 940, though of course they're slow as molasses. Watch for rust in the floor from the INSIDE. 5-speed will be next to impossible to find. I kind of like the last of the 1993 240 wagons, a model called the 'classic'. The bodies seem to hold up very well, though again I'd check the floor. If it doesn't rust, the damned thing will last forever.
