I'm on my second Eriksson tranny. The 2nd gear synchro wore out on my first one after just a couple of thousand miles. The dealer had insisted on using the new (at the time) Saab synthetic transmission oil. Eriksson replaced the tranny and paid half of my reinstallation charge (I thought that was great), but then my second one started with the same symptoms after 7k miles. I talked with Matt at Eriksson, and he recommended changing to dino oil, which I did, and it's been fine since.
Eriksson has great customer service, but they don't replace any tranny components unless they are at or below their wear limit. If they close to their wear limit, they keep them. I like the idea of having someone rebuild your tranny, so you can get those details taken care of. Of course, your car is out of commission for two weeks with this option.
