Lazy fuel level gauge

I don't know if cold weather is relevant, but my 9k has had a lazy fuel tank level lately. If used to be on the coldest mornings, but now it's rather consistent irrespective of ambient temp. It'll read E until several miles down the road where it "pops loose" and reads to the expected level.
Any advice or concerns associated with this? Thanks,
