I have read the posts extensively on this subject. You can't get the Aero struts any longer.....The replacement part is a Sachs #14 1500 115 253. Got them through autopartswarehouse.com. That is what I just put on my '97 Aero/auto along with some sway bar bushing(stock) and Abbott control arm rear bushings. They are plently firm to the point that I am considering the addition of a strut brace. Still researching that. Lots of different opinions....and, I don't like the idea of using the 304 stainless as a brase material.
I did consider, seriously, Bilsteins and Konis. I wanted to keep the ride height the same and the auto trans cars have stiffer springs.
I have recently driven Hwy #74 from OC to Palm Desert and this weekend OC to top of Mt. Palomar. So. Cal. Saab GTG. The car handles very well. I personally would not consider a firmer strut. You can feel all of the irregularities in the road with these. My car drives like brand new.
Many try to use a firmer strut to reduce the body roll. I am of the opinion that messing with the sway bars and bushings to acheive that.
Good luck
