The bottom end is simple. You have the head removed. At No. 1 piston TDC the piston is at the top of the stroke. So you can't miss it. Both your balance chain and timing chain will be loose at this point. No. I think you can fit the balance shaft chain up. You'll notice the Woodruff key in the front of the crank shaft is at 12 o'clock. The flywheel will also have the 0 deg mark lining up with the mark on the rear plate, or very close to it.

When you put the head back on, I suggest you leave the camshafts removed. Actually maybe this is the only way. So all valves will be closed. Tighten the head bolts. Next do the timing on the top end.

Loosen the timing chain tensioner first. Fit the timing chain onto the two sprockets. Next fit the sprocket onto the cam shafts. Hand tight the bolts between the sprocket and the cam shaft. You need to orient both cam sprockets so the arrow on the passenger side is at 12 o'clock. At No. piston TDC, the cam shafts has a mark at the first bearing cap to line up with another on the cap. Fit all bearing caps by hand first. Then tighten each one in an alternating pattern to spec, watching for the marks to keep it at TDC. After the bearing caps are tightened, tighten the sprockets to the camshaft to spec. You need something to hold the driver side of the camshaft fast while tightening the bolt on the sprocket on the passenger side.

I posted pictures of the no. 1 piston TDC a few times. They should be still on the archive.
