I've bought that part... Posted by Gene N [Email] (#1094) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gene N) on Wed, 3 May 2006 14:03:50 In Reply to: I was wondering that, Ari [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 3 May 2006 05:35:46 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
But I had to get it from a dealer. There were a couple of different designs. There was a rubber stopper that was ribbed. That shrank and leaked. I have that version on my 1991 head. I fixed it with anerobic sealer, Locktite 518. There was a version of the plug that looked like a freeze plug, but was metal with a rubber coating that is pressed in. That sounds like what Julian has. The nicest version is an aluminum plug that has o-rings on it. It also has U-shaped keeper that bolts on to the head. I believe the U-shaped keeper is the same bracket that would hold the distributer in, if you had one.
The part I bought was the freeze plug design. I was not impressed, so I put the rubber stopper back in with sealer.
