the flex pipe section supposedly from Abbott broke a month or so ago probably due to mechanical flexing, remember it's supposed to be stainless steel 8-).

I replaced the broken stainless steel flex pipe section with just a standard Walker flex pipe section. Scanwest (Abbott's dealer in the US) wants $$$$$ for the flex pipe section, way too much in my book. The Abbott system is built to fit various sections of the stock exhaust so you can choose what you want to replace. Bill Davies mentioned that he had the rear muffler section only(??). The rear muffler has a nice tail pipe section as Bill indicated, stamped with "Abbott Racing" if that sort of thing appeals to you.

Anyway, the Abbott cat back improves performance but not dramatically so. Abbott claims about +15HP for the cat back system. I think it feels about right to me. It is louder than I like however. The exhaust note sounds better to someone outside than inside 8-). The complete Abbott system is expensive, I got mine from Scanwest about 6 years ago when someone ordered it but later cancelled so I got the whole cat back thing at a good discount.

Group 9 Performance sells a complete turbo back 3" system for the 9K at about $1,000, you can go to their web site and take a look. The system looks very nice from the pictures. Go visit some of Saabnet sponsors site and see if they have someone that would fit your requirements and budget.

If you are thinking about upgrading the ECU, then you may just as well spend a bit more for the turbo back system and then reprogram your ECU later.
