What you feel is about right. What else is done to the car? If it is stock that is the way it runs. If the Aero is a 5spd it has a slightly larger turbo so it pulls more in the upper range of rpm and more so in 3rd,4th , 5th. I have a 91 9000T the stock T25 makes boost right now. It used to run out of breath in the 3rd gear on up area. I had the turbo rebuilt and upgraded with what some call a T28/T25. It uses a T3 60 wheel on the compressor side. If your car is stock then a 3" turbo back exhaust system will really wake things up.
Gearing wise the 91 turbo tranny has 4.05 final drive while the 9000S has 4.45 final drive. The gear for rev, 1st - 5th is the same turbo ro non turbo. I just swapped to a 9000S tranny with 4.45 gears. It now has no drop in 3rd and it pulls hard. Not the best for hwy low rpm.
I have a 94 9000 Aero with stock gearing which is perfect for hwy cruising at speed.
