1988 9000 Turbo - stick - 170,000 miles
Hi guys - got a new member to my SAAB family. I picked up a 88' turbo really cheap to fix up for my oldest daughter.
While driving it home, the engine would stop running. I noticed that the tach would drop to 0 - telling me that the juice just decided to shut off. The electricity to everything else would stay on.
I'd pull over and try it again and after a few tries it would fire back up. Sometimes it would fire right up, other times it would take a few minutes.
Am I right in thinking this is probably the ignition switch? Possibly the main relay?
Also there is a small valve with vacuum tubes (3) just above the trubo, mounted on the radiator, that will "click click click click click click click." I notice as i rev the engine it will go off, and once while the car sat without the engine running but ignition on it was clicking.
Any suggestions would really be appreciated!!!
I just spent about 8 hours re-stitching the leather seats, cleaning the switchpack and other odds and ends.
I need to do the heater blower motor too :(
