From what speed are you stopping at? Were your brake pads all very worn out when you replaced them? Perhaps the new pads are exceptionally better then the previous worn out ones. So you need to adapt and not press the brake pedal as hard. I say this because when I changed my front pads I noticed a huge difference in the amount of work I have to put into the pedal to stop the car by at a certian point, aka panic braking. And abs will now kick in if I press the pedal hard enough to get the car to dip a little while slowing to a stop.
Is it possible to come to a stop from 40mph in 75-100 feet without getting the abs to kick in? On an unrelated side note I noticed my abs light frequently came on when my brakepads were worn out, and since changing them the light has ceased coming on.
