I have a strange problem I've recently noticed that doesn't interfere with my enjoyment of planting my right foot, but seems to dampen things when I'm attempting to show off. :)

'96 9000 Aero manual, 139k miles, plugs gapped OK, unknown mileage on DI cassette, new silicone hoses everywhere, recent (Viggen) BPV and recent BPC replacement. The BPC fixed a "base boost when warm, plenty of boost when cold" problem and gave me what appears to be full boost all the time.

The problem is that if I'm driving the car with any passengers (even just one), and put my foot down, the car will boost into the red and hit fuel-cutoff, with the sudden jerk that happens. If I'm driving alone (commuting, say), it doesn't do this. It will get to the red/yellow lines in second, all the way to the red in third, fourth, fifth. There's usually a burst of boost well into the red and then it backs down to hover near the red/yellow lines.

What causes the overboosting with heavier load and what can I do to remedy it?
