you need to get that thing going in as little time and money as possible.
that said, i see you have 3 options
1- bail out
your car is 20 years old (and the first year 9000 with its age and quirks, practically no resale) and unless it's really nice or special to you, you may want to consider moving on. I upgraded from a 1987 9kt to a nice 95 aero for not much money.
You've already invested quite a bit of time, money and sweat into this project, with your car down the whole time.
2- salvage head like you mentioned.
I believe a c900 head of similar vintage is interchangable but I would confirm that with somebody on either message forum or ask a site sponsered mechanic local to you
3- continue trying to fix the head.
I think your exhaust can live without that stud but I am not sure which product I would trust to seal that water jacket. Jbweld? maybe. closing it up with a TIG welder would probably be safer but still may not work 100% and you're still missing an exhaust stud. Heads are common and cheap. I definately wouldnt do that.
just my opinion
Henry <- got my hand back yuck
