I'm just about ready to add this to my list of scheduled maintenance. When it happens, at least heating up all the larger solder joints along the base of the relay until they flow again 'fixes' the relay. For another nine months/year/eighteen months or whatever, it works fine. I've looked with a pretty strong magnifying glass & not seen anything remarkable, so maybe the cracks are internal to the solder joint, idk. But flowing new/reflowing the existing solder restores the relay function -- still haven't broken down to buy new relays for either '97 we run, one at 110k the other at 203k mi.
Maybe once I totally trash the external cover ... duct tape just won't look right under the hood :)
