The trans gave a funky feel when I slid it out of 4th gear, and basically locked up there. It let go, but then came back months later. Turned out that a gear circlip broke and slipped between a couple of gears. My indy took it apart, replaced the gear, circlip, spacer, and it has been fine.
I've heard of a few other Aeros '95 and later with the same problem. Generally, I think the manual tranny is pretty strong, so it might be worth having someone who really knows their trannies pull it apart and check it out. Assuming that it is not the link...
