I had the dashtop off yesterday to replace a blown woofer on the driver's side, reinstall the left turn signal bulb that fell out last time I was under there and then I also replaced the clutch cruise control interrupt switch.
Somehow during these activities my speedometer decided to not work anymore.
As far as I can tell the rest of the gauges are working fine, tach, temp, fuel, all the lights are working. Just the speedo and the instantaneous mpg meter. I couldn't tell if average mpg was working though I suspect not as it seemed to decrease.
While driving to work I found that I was stock in base boost which is VERY boring. I do not think the BPC is a problem because at light throttle openings I could get up to 12psi, but when I floored it it would drop to base boost immediately.
In the past I had a problem with an very intermittent speedo not working problem but it seemed random and would correct itself within anywhere from 2 minutes to an hour. During these events I could achieve full boost without any issues.
What I don't get is why is the speedo not working and I'm in baseboost.
I just had the dashtop off again expecting to find loose connections at the back of the guage, but they were tight. I traced the wires as far as I could and found no reason to think they were damaged when I replaced the vent ducting.
I'd love to fix this thing before hitting the highway to SOC for 4 hours.
There's nothing like baseboost when you're used to triplethe psi, especially when you pull out to pass.
Thanks for any input
Matt
