Hi Barry,
My advice is there is no easy fix for any car problem...
My 92 9000CS was leaking from near bolts 7 & 10 for about a year and then got worse very quickly. No other symptoms & just done 800km trip. I had planned well in advance for a head off job and had all parts from US.
It sounds like the head gasket is breaking down along the edges around all the coolant holes, when you see your gasket off the car you will be amazed it could hold anything in !
Saab have a habit of disolving head gaskets maybe it is the factory anti-freeze corrosion inhibitor.
I do NOT believe retorqueing will do anything except stretch the bolts some more.
My advice it get the head off and reconditioned, must get new head bolts (Goetze federal mogul M12x1.75x95mm) and top end gasket set and replace every o'ring and replace every suspect hose (avoid all genuine rubber parts if possible) buy Australian made Mackay.
Replace the two chains and cam tensioner guide and inspect the balance sprocket (on crank) and oil seal on timing cover
Replace 4 long exhaust studs as they tend to break off.
Your alternator (if original) will have stuffed bearings & bushes.
Check serpentine belt tensioner bearing pivot shaft is not loose in ali bracket.
Got my car back together today and what an improvement...
