No need to drop the tank. There's a removable plate under the carpet, just back of the rear seats.
You can either replace the entire assembly (pump, some springs, tubing and plastic bucket and screan and stuff) or just the pump. $400 assembly vs $80 for the pump.
The difficult spots are
- getting the sealing ring off the tank (mine had been there 12 years, destroyed it getting it out)
- pulling the fittings from the top plate of the tank (as per Yaofeng's post)
- the rubber isolation donut will be tough, and if you let it dry out, it
resembles a hockey puck in consistancy
- forming a replacement fuel line out of the hard plastic line. I gave up
and used F.I. Hose
- if you replace the check valve, you've got to get it inserted in the hard plastic line. You can use F.I. hose here also.
Do a search - lots of discussion on fuel pump replacement.
