Generally, a leaky exhaust will manifest in slower turbo spool-up, as well as increased exhaust noise. If that's what it is, it will continue to get worse, with insane turbo lag and very loud exhaust. You may also notice that turbo whistle is much more noticeable. You shouldn't smell any exhaust through the vents though, even if you did have a bad exhaust leak. The incoming air is filtered before being distributed - have you checked the filter, or is this smell that you notice with windows rolled down?
