our 1988 was going strong at 240K when we gave it to the neighbor kid and our 1995 CSE with 220K is in great shape. We had the engine/trans out of it (95CSE) recently for crank seal, oil pump seal and motor mounts, turbo swap and although my Saab indie buddy usually recommends a seal kit for trans when they are "on the bench" he said ours was acting to good to mess with it...

in his experience the transmissions have not be any worse on the 9K then any other saab (we are talking automatics here) nor other makes. he said the majority of the concerns he has seen were easy fixes include governors seals bands and things that can be done with in still in the car...

unlike the 900 with the exploding 5 speeds!
I've babied my two 9000 due to the "weak link" of the drive train on these and obviously it has done me well...

If clutches on 5 speeds are done every 100-150K or so for the average driver then I'm ahead of the cost curve with my two auto transmissions...but then again i got 300K out of my first 900s with a 5speed w/o ever doing the clutch...

save thing for my Vw Eurovan which are know to have auto boxes that don't last to 75K for 1/2 the drivers out there. mine was fine at 200K...so i think regualar oil changes, driving like a grandma and a little luck go a along way!
