Every time I have the rotors off my 2001 GMC Sierra, I take a sharp chisel and scrape the rust off the outer edges of the rotors. The last time I did this, I saved the rust from one rotor and put in a zip-lock bag. My guess is that it weighed at least 1/2 pound. Granted, the GMC rotors are quite larger than the '97 SET rotors.
