I started my then new to me, 5k dealer serviced dino oiled used car, 97 9000 CS on M1 and the oil was dark quick on the first few oil changes at 52,000 miles. I recall reading that synthetic loosens the varnish-esge residue better than dino. So just do a more frequent change schedule initially until it runs clearer regularly. (Actually M1 isn't recommended in older engines as it promotes leaks, IIRC.)
67,000 miles later, no problems. Again, change it and relax.
If you notice, when changing M1 out, your hands don't get soiled like when you change out dino; must be the benefits of synthetic, it holds the dirt deposits easier, thats why its darker.
Restore may have added to the residue loosening process. Relax and change it again.
