as far as I know. '93 and up had different mating pattern to the engine block, as well as higher gear ratios (numberically lower). I went and had my trans rebuilt (by a friend, for cheap), it is now as new, but the car has 230k. Next could be the headgasket, or heater core, etc. If I were to do it now, not having a buddy to rebuild it, I would source a *known* good used. Remember you would probably want a new clutch disc, pressure plate, and throwout bearing, which adds a few hundred more to the equation.
