Exhaust/muffler hanger Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Fri, 4 May 2007 10:24:59 In Reply to: Re: quick parking lot fix for dangling muffler, Ari [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 4 May 2007 05:52:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Chances are that your current issue is due to the rubber muffler supports hardening, then cracking or falling off. These are fairly easily replaced, especially the ones near the back of the car.
My suggestion is to buy the more expensive genuine SAAB part (~$10 ea.) vs. the generic parts ($1.50 ea.). I replaced all of my hangers with the cheap parts when I redid the exhaust system and they were shot in about 1.5 years, the OEM parts are made from a different kind of rubber; I actually reused one that i kept.
