My '95 9k is starting to develop some nasty rust around the base of the windshield, both sides. In no way am I ready to part with this car, but it's going to start leaking soon if I don't address this.
I've brought the car to three body shops (Stadium Auto Body in Brighton, MA, Village Collision in Brookline, MA and Central Saab's shop in Norwood, MA) and the only place that will do it is Village. The other two places literally said "good luck".
Since I'm not planning on getting rid of this car for a long time (love to get another 3 years out of it as a daily driver before retiring it as a toy and modding the hell out of it), I don't care about the money. Village's estimate is about $1,400.
My question is, is this actually repairable or am I getting screwed? I know rust always comes back at some point, but I don't want this rotting out by next summer. Their plan, of course, is to take out the windshield (replace it), do some cutting and welding, then paint it up.
Thanks for any advice!
-Pete
