I ran Continental ContiExtremeContacts in 225/50-16 on my '98 with Aero suspension. Other than some slight rubbing in tight corners, handling greatly improved over stock size. I had to "re-learn" how to steer the car since just touching the steering wheel would send the car in that direction. They didn't "balloon-out" nor did I have to significantly increase tire pressure (only went up about extra 2 lbs.).
Absolutely loved those tires. Only downsize was longevity. I only got about 22K miles out of them, and once they start to wear, they become almost dangerous, esp. in the rain.
Am now running Bridgestone Potenza G009 in size 205/50-16 (originally meant for my 900 'vert, but didn't like how they stuck out from the wheelwells), and do not like that size. Handling is sloppy, and fast cornering is nerve-wracking. Was a last-minute "had to" option to put them on the 9K, and they've been there for a year now.
