Yup, I have the original in-dash CD, but I only intend to use it to control the changer. I thought that pre-95 9000s (i.e., prior to HK) did not need the Y connector. In any case, you can see a couple of photos of my console stack with the cubby and ashtray removed, as well as the receiver and CD player pulled from their bays. Check out:

So far I haven't found any trace of the other cable end, and I'm not quite sure what to do with it if I don find it. I appreciate your help with this.
