The problem with the ignition switch is poor contact on the +15 bus, which supplies the ECU and fuel pump. But it also supplies power to the DI; so if the DI is sparking, the +15 bus is OK.
A simple check is to turn the key to the ON position - you should see the dash lights (BAT, Oil Pressure, CEL...), and the lights should stay ON as you turn the key to START. The dash lights are on the same power bus. If those lights come on, the ignition switch is OK (as far as passing current to the electricals).
