axle removal is fairly simple. Eeuro sells full axle assemblies for cheaper than a CV kit, so don't bother messing with boots. you'll need MANY rags and a black industrial trash bag as ground and frame covering for the inner boots as those will need to be removed. also buy the clamp tool for $25; this will save you lots of frustration now and in the future when a boot splits. the axle assemblies may or may not include grease, so purchase two tubes of inner CV joint grease. axle nuts are also recommended, although I think they are included in the assembly. remember: torque to ~210 ft/lbs
so the process goes something like this: with car on the ground, slacken axle nut. remove wheel, pound out axle from the hub, cut the inner CV clamp, and with your plastic bag at the ready, pull off the axle. no other connections, no (major) frustrations; just a big, greasy, disgusting mess. installation is just the opposite. remember to squeeze the contents of your grease tube into the boot before installing the new axle.
while your in there, check your front struts, suspension bushings, brake pads and rotors, and look for any leaks. also, since the wheel hubs will be removed from the axle, clean the ABS sensors with brake cleaner. be sure not to use carb cleaner as it is flammable and can set fire under braking.
