Here's the symptoms. For the past 2 weeks it has off and on taken a long time to start the car. Probably every 4th time the car would take 20 seconds to start. A couple days ago the car would not start at all. 10 seconds after trying to start the car I put starter fluid in and the car then immediately started. I drove it home and it started continuously so it seemed to work. I opened the trunk and got to the fuel pump and listened for the fuel pump while trying to start. It started again but idled horribly and then I noticed that both the fuel gauge and the tach weren't moving up and down as I reved the car. Could I have touched something on the fuel pump to have caused this? Then I tried again and the car started and ran well and the fuel gauge and tachometer started working again. The next morning I go to start it and it won't start but I didn't have time to troubleshoot because I had to get to work. I get home from work and it starts. So basically I can't rely on it and think that since it has 100,000 miles on it, I mind as well replace the fuel pump if not to fix the problem for preventitive maintenance. I don't think the fuel pump is broken but I am suspecting that it can be weak or it could be the contacts. I don't want to order the fuel pump on eeuroparts until I know if I need the 6mm or 8mm. The hoses are 8mm from what I can see.
