Having done 2 tranny removal/refits I would guess the tranny weight at around 70 lbs. Quasi's procedure is a good one. No hoist required. a floor jack and some nylon rope will be helpful. 2 floor jacks would be better. It is one of those jobs where you do whatever you have to let the tranny down gently. And then again use ingenuity to get it back up for reinstallation. One man can do both.
