My 88T has a new clutch and a high pedal. My 89s clutch is just about gone and engages just off the floor. If you think through the geometry of the clutch fingers, a thicker disc causes the fingers to rest further away from the slave, necessitating the extension of the piston. As the clutch wears the fingers angle out pushing the piston back into the bore. That's clear to me. How that translates into hydraulics is speculative, but here goes: the steeper angle of the fingers with a worn clutch requires more slave travel to engage/disengage hence end of stroke low pedal.
I have to grapple with a lot of these up/down, back and forth, dyslexic traps, and often get things backwards, so you won't hurt my feelings if you prove me wrong.
