Hi Cos,

This bucking is a common problem with the 9000's due to the boost control system. What happens is the computer controls max boost with the BPC valve, measuring the pressure with the MAP sensor. The ECU moves the BPC accordingly. If the MAP senses pressure beyond the computers fuel mapping, to protect the engine from detonation it initiates fuel cut-out. Fuel cut-out is what the bucking is.

The BPC is a design flaw from SAAB as it is very sensitive to dirt and debris from the air and the tight tolerances of the PWM design of the BPC. There is also some chatter on ths BB about quality issues with the BPC itself. Sometimes you can get lucky by spraying carb cleaner in the three nipples found on the BPC. What usually happens is the bobbin inside the BPC freezes up and then overheats in one position. Then it can short out any of the three transistors that control the BPC in the ECU.

There are low cost solutions to this system using a MPC (manual boost controller). If you want to stay stock, see below.

Clean your BPC
If still having the same problem, you can replace the BPC, but be sure to check the transistors in the ECU. If they are blown, they will burn out any new BPC you replace.

I have been running a Dawes MBC and love it. $30.00 No issues, bucking, etc. Also upgraded to Stage 4 and it still works beautiful.
