Although the general engine is much the same, more things in the car's interior will be difficult to diagnose without the aid of a Tech II. This may cost you more money.
9-5s are dipping down into the "what the heck" price category these days, sludge problems notwithstanding. In the New England area I routinely see 1999s for the $3000 range.
I would expect parts to be more expensive, and 9-5s seem to eat more DIs, have the sludge issue, and I believe they all have electronic throttles, traction control, and so forth. Turbos also fail more regularly.
