Yes that is correct, I did just rebuild my ignition switch. The problem I was having was when the switch was in the on position I would not get any lights on my dash, and the car would not start, just turn over. i was told that the ignition switch was the problem and that this is a know issue with 9000 at least. So in order to save money I removed the switch and took it apart. Taking things apart to see how they work is always fun. I was able to clean and "adjust" the contacts. Reinstalled and blam, works everytime. So here is the sequence to rebuild the switch. if you need to know how to remove, there are many post on here on how to do this, I will just focus on the clean and inspect the internals.
Once you have the switch out, find a nice work bench to work on, or a kitchen counter top if your wife is ok with that. First thing you need to do is drill out the aluminum post that were spread out, 2 of them. Use a 3/16 drill for this, works perfect. Just drill enough till you feel the drill hit some resisitance, which is the solid post part. Then pry the entire plastic cover off. the spring and the ignition lock cylinder input end will come off, while the switch it's self will still be encased in the plastic housing. split the housing in half and then you can see/clean the contacs. Use something like a nail file or very fine sand paper to clean the carbon of the the contacs. Then with the switch in the off position you can adjust, if needed, the fingers the contacts are on. Once all this is done, just reassemble. I am not sure it he drill out portion will be an issue, but their dosen't seem to be that much stress that is is crucial. Either way it should work and for a whole lotta nothing you can have a working switch again, and then save for a replacement, when it is not so cold out. BRRRRRRRR
