We pay a price to drive these cars. I took my lumps too, 95 CSE, tranny just stopped. I bought a used 98 trans with 48k on it. I put Redline D4 trans oil in it and it shifted amazing. But we crashed it and that was that.
Now I'm driving a 97 CSE with the original trans and stock fluid, not synthetic. It shifts ok, but nothing like the 98 trans with the Redline D4. I will put D4 at the next change and see if it improves.
I think our best protection against trans failure is synthetic fluid, and frequent fluid and filter changes.
