wet plugs possible to pause the fuel pump?

The other day when it was 20 plus below here, my 89 turbo with a Hall type distributor ignition system wouldn't start.
Yesterday when it warmed up to zero, I tried again. This time I had the jumper cables on from my (carburated which ran great in this ridiculously well in this deep freeze!) jeep hooked up. I cranked over the Saab quite a few times. I even tried to squirt a dab of ether in the intake. No dice. At times it (hold breath) almost started. In the end it just wouldn't start.
Since it was so balmy out I took the plugs out to have a look. All of them were just soaked. I brought the plugs inside to dry overnight.
Question: If I unplug the fuse for the fuel pump and crank it over that way, can I expect that holding the throttle wide open while cranking will dry out the cylinders?
or/and
The plug holes have been open all night. What is the evaporation temperature cut off for gasoline? In other words, in this sub zero temp has it dried it at all with the plugs removed?
Thanks!
