It seems, if I read it correctly, that the K&N does flow more air, with less restriction, than the A/C Delco. However, it's filtering efficincy is much less. In fact even when new, allows more dirt to pass. That's a bit unsettling. I wonder how much it really matters, in real life, when installed on a veichle that is rarely driven on dirt roads? My K&N is realitively protected by the fenderwell. Realising that the test does prove that a stock paper filter will filter better than a K&N, what other choices are there out there to improve air flow while maintaining stock efficiency? I remember the day that I installed my SD cat back exaust and K&N, did the exaust first, went out for a test drive, some noticible seat of pants improvement. Installed the K&N, went out for another test, WOW, I felt the filter did more for the power than the exaust. Kinda depressing considering that the exaust was $700 and the filter kit was $90. All the tuners are reccomending an "open" intake for all tunes above stage I. What's the best solution/compromise?
