Passenger Inner driver Removal

I am replacing the entire front axle assembly which includes the inner driver on the right side (passenger) in 1996 9K cse auto. I did some search here and found no info on the removal of the RIGHT inner driver from the auto transmission.
Is the inner driver cup held inside the transmission ?
Its cold here up north and plan in doing it this week-end.
Thanks
