I disagree. When the only part that wears out has just been replaced, I don't see the issue. What would you suggest be done instead of fixing a cruise control problem that crops up when a new master cylinder is installed?
If you're talking about the pedal mounting points and fasteners wearing, then I think you're being too concerned. In my years of car ownership and repair (I repair more than my own cars) I have never seen or heard of a failure in the clutch pedal itself. Clutch/clutch hydraulics failures, yes. Pedal failures, no.
Of course when my cruise quit working, I checked the pedal bolts and mounting points for play, etc. Nothing. I am convinced that my fix was nothing more than an adjustment to the cruise control switch, which had worn over time. With the change of master cylinder, the switch needed adjustment.
Of course, if my cruise control fails on a RR crossing, I'll be able to drive away. Then again, if my DI fails, and I'm not able to drive away, then I was a fool to stop on a RR crossing in the first place (who does that?).
Cheers,
~P
