Aside from the issue of trusting your indy, he could be correct. None of our 3 9K's use any oil between changes. My work car has 210K. Our Aero 94K and the wifes, just rebuilt, long story, 75K. Could be the oil control rings, they can get stuck so they don't fit tight to the cylinder walls. If the rest of the car is in good shape, I would do the rings and bearings, timing chains etc, at the same time. This could cost you 2-3K, so you need to be sure you want to keep the car. Keep in mind that Aero's sometimes get driven harder than lesser cars and if you don't know the owner/service history, that could be the underlying issue with your excessive oil consumption. I'd look for another indy if you don't trust your current one.
