Joe, mine has overheated twice pretty aggressively to the point of boiling out of the reservoir. The first time i do not remember the cause. The second was a bad thermostat. I drove home with that in the summer since it stayed cool if I was at speed.

I have not suffered the severe affect you have. Assuming you had an OEM head gasket, you are right to consider the coincidental possibilities. I can hardly believe the Turbo failure, but it could be in the realm of coincidence.

Have you run it for any length of time to see if it would clear up? Could Happen!? I am wondering if the loss of the belt kept a function from happening that either allowed oil to get into the cylinder or build up around the valves - you know, that 'possibility' thinking that often yields the real answer.

Put some Bar's Leaks in it. ;) Good Luck and let us know what you find.
