Exactly what I want, too, because I know mine won't last forever. The Guigiaro design is still very cool, but is no longer as timeless as it once seemed.
A client in the UK thinks it's cool that I have a 9000. He loves them, even though he has a modified Audi A4. But he noted the styling differences of the older design of the 9K, such as the front and rear overhangs. I hadn't thought about it until he mentioned it, but they seem huge compared to a lot of newer models.
There are also the folded edges on the body work, instead of the rounded ones so common now that make cars look so much alike. The 9K still looks great, but it does look dated. But I like that it can't be confused with something else.
One of the best design elements is the big greenhouse, which really sets the car apart and also makes driving it easier because you can see out so well. There aren't a whole lot of blind spots (at least if you're tall. My 5'4" daughter has some issues). So many of today's cars have small windows. I don't know why. Even newer Saabs like the 9-3 have proportionately less glass than previous models. Is it a safety thing?
Still, a redesigned, modernized 9K (with a hatch, of course) would be wonderful. Will never happen, though. :-(
