Sounds like you're running rich. So you're either getting too much fuel (or not enough air).
Do you have a check engine light?
Fuel Pressure regulator - pull off the vacuum hose, and see if fuel comes out. Use a vacuum pump or big plastic syringe and a piece of tubing and see if it'll hold vacuum to see if the diagphragm is broken.
O2 sensor malfunction will also cause it to run rich. Without a scan tool you would need to back probe or tap the signal and ground to gain access to the signal values (and a use a high impedance meter to avoid loading the circuit).
