Engine stalls and won't restart when hot (long) Posted by ToddM [Email] (#887) [Profile/Gallery] (more from ToddM) on Fri, 6 Jun 2008 15:11:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a 91 9000CD NA Auto with 139,000. I've only owned this car for a month or so. Twice, after high-speed driving or stop-and-go in 90+ degree weather, the engine will stumble and stall -- as if it's out of gas. It has done this with a full tank, so that's not it. I can crank the engine and it will restart, but it runs roughly and I must hold the throttle to the floor just to keep it from stalling. It will not rise above 900 RPM with the throttle floored. If I let the engine cool off for 10-20 minutes, it runs normally. The temperature gauge is at 9:30 to 10 when this happens. Also, this has only happened after 45 minutes+ of driving.
Where do I start?
