This sounds as if you're only getting base boost and while the BPC valve could be doing this to you it makes sense to check the basics first.
(1) Fit new plugs, BCPR-7ES gapped to say 0.9mm. Accept no substitutes
(2) Fill up with good quality high-octane fuel
(3) Check all vacuum/turbo hoses
(4) Do an adaptation run
and see what happens. Even on my automatic CSE with 0.8 bar boost my gauge flips up into the red before settling back a little so you're right to be unhappy!
