Hi Marvin.
5 cars - goodness, you've got your hands full !
I have to admit it - I cheated and took apart an old, used up flex
pipe after measuring the length of the flex alone and brought the
pipe ends to the store, that's how I got the ID right, and it was
an off-the-shelf part. (It has always been longer and beefier than
the little, skinny welded in OEM flex which is so easy to cut out.)
Overlap-wise, I went for every mm I could get and stuffed 'em all
the way in deep inside the sockets of the new flex.
It was very easy since I knew how long the removed OEM chunk had
been and the total/final length needed to match where it'd been.
I have never used two clamps on those joints, one does the job
just fine for me.
What I did change was the mounts from flex -> back to much sturdier
ones because despite the added vibration (which doesn't bother me),
it is my theory that less swinging around makes the flex last a bit
longer and the middle to rear exhaust is too mobile IMO.
There; I hope that info will be useful !
