Ten minutes of running is not enough to charge the battery. If you have a volt meter it is very easy to test and diagnose. They are cheap to buy. With the engine running you should see 13.4-14.6 volts at the battery terminals. With a fully charged battery, and the engine not running, you should see 12.5 volts.
If you see less than 13.4 volts with the engine running then your alternator or voltage regulator is bad. If you see the correct voltage with the engine running, but don't see 12.5 volts on the battery with the engine off (and battery properly charged), then the battery is bad. You can use a battery charger to charge the battery.
Never run an engine with the battery disconnected. The alternator can easily run the voltage up into an area where it will either have internal damage, or more likely damage sensitive electronic devices in the car. It is also a poor test.
