Hello Group.
As a long time Saab junkie (5 X 900C, 2000 9-3, 2001 Aero Wagon) I have been off Saab for the last 5 years until yesterday with the purchase of a 2 owner 93 9000 Aero. The car is has been actively dealer and indy maintained (documented) until 2004 when the owner got his 3rd car. During the next 4 years it was driven 10K miles. The last major work done (by a saabnet sponsor) was a alternator, pulley, belts tensioner, water pump and brake pads in 4/07 (for a whooping $1800).
Since he was primarily a suburban driver and I'm a city driver, I plan to do the full 82C cooling system conversion to preserve the head gasket (replaced in 2003). I plan on replacing the t-stat, thermo switch, a/c thermo switch and hoses. Is there any other "while I'm there" parts I should hit?
The other pressing questions is if an engine flush is advisable here. The car has used dino for all of its life. Although I'm confident its been maintained, during the 4 years documented oil changes have been spotty. I plan on changing over to synthetic but would like to start with a clean slate. I went to the auto part store today and on the back of the Gunk engine flush product is specifically said not recommended for turbo charge engines. Any thought? Thanks
