Thanks for responding. I will leave the 9000 stuff on Posted by TonyJ [Email] (#407) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TonyJ) on Fri, 19 Dec 2008 15:21:25 In Reply to: Re: Kudos to Saabnet Classified and thanks to the 9000 BB!, Saabnutt, Wed, 17 Dec 2008 08:02:12 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
my SaabNet Member Gallery, some of you may find it useful (e.g. headlite wiper fix, Saab tools you can make, etc.) And, since my son AndyJ in Ohio still has a 95 Aero, I will keep the complete set of 9000 Saab workshop manuals and could look things up if anyone needs help.
Between Andy and I, we have owned 6 9000s (91-97). There are pros and cons relative to the 9-5 (we have an '04 9-5 Aero wagon auto). 9000 features I miss: Big pockets in all 4 doors, weather band, voltmeter that remembers cranking voltage, MPG bar graph, flat floor under back seat, all leather Aero interior, decent MPG in non-hiway driving, wheels that don't invite curb rash, and no major coolant loss flaw (9-5 heater bypass valve). 9-5 improvements: smoother ride, quieter (especially less wind noise), nice new gadgets (compass and garage remotes in auto dimming mirror, mirror memory along with seat positions, parking assist via RH mirror turning down, paddle shift levers), many hidden storage compartments in cargo area, an actual glove box with cooling, and removeable rear seat bottoms.
Not impressed with 9-5 reliability so far--had it to the dealer 4 times before the warranty expired (hood emblem, rear wheel ABS sensor/bearing, engine oil seals, relay, seatbelts, fuel pump/sending unit, rough idle, excessive creep at idle, lamps, creaks, intermittent power seat, broken battery box, etc.) then it had a heater bypass failure and a bad thermostat. It's only got 47K miles; we hope this is just a phase it's going through.
