Hi all,
getting all the bits together to install my engine and man trans from my 95 aero to a 1997 Auto.
I plan changing the man trans oil with 10W-40 Castrol as many have suggested, before I drop into the car, because of the difficulty in accessing the drain, fill, and level plugs. Looks like two of them are near the drivers side output shaft.
I noticed this box never had the external rubber bellows on the shift selector rod. there is a seal as it enters the case. Eeuroparts lists the shaft selector seal, but no bellows. Looks like dirt could possibly enter. Suggestions?
I hadn't planned on replacing seal, looks like the trans would have to come apart for that.
Also, just wondering if now would be a good time to change the inner differential roller bearings? They seem quite accessible, maybe just removing the bolted covers? The box worked okay, had been repaired at 90k, now it has 170k, but I would like to prevent a simple bearing failure from being a huge job later.
Thanks all, Weston
